How age is counted
Age is counted in completed calendar years, then completed months, then remaining days. When a month is shorter than the birth day (for example, someone born on the 31st), the month is counted as complete on that month’s last day.
By the same rule, people born on 29 February have their birthday counted on 28 February in non-leap years.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my exact age?
Subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract one if your birthday has not happened yet this year. This calculator also works out the leftover months and days for you.
How many days old am I?
The “Total days” result shows the exact number of days between your date of birth and the chosen date.
